Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were concerned when they first heard a top midfielder was set to leave the Emirates but are happy with the full story.
The Metro suggests that Arsenal will approve an extension of Gedion Zelalem’s loan deal with Rangers, which would see the young midfielder remain in Scotland until the end of the season.
Zelalem, tipped as one of the most exciting young players within Arsenal’s squad, has excelled during his spell with Rangers so far.
Rangers boss Mark Warburton has been impressed with the player’s attributes and contribution, confirming this weekend of the intention to keep the player beyond January.
‘So far, we are in good shape. The feedback from Arsenal has been very positive. He is speaking to his family and, hopefully, we are closing to securing him.’
‘The current deal is until January, but, as long as everyone is happy, we will extend that. I have been delighted with his contribution and the last game he played for Rangers was his best so far.’
Fans at the bar agreed an extension of Zelalem’s loan deal is the best for his future but are concerned that he may be needed in North London, with Francis Coquelin and Mikel Arteta both injured in the weekend’s defeat to West Brom.
