Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are questioning whether or not this is really the end of this saga after Metro revealed that Nicolas Gaitan has agreed a deal with Manchester United.
The Argentinian international has been a long-term target for the Red Devils and his agent is saying that the deal is on the verge of being completed.
The 27-year-old is currently contracted with Portuguese giants Benfica but it looks as though he is going to test himself in one of the best leagues in the world.
Gaitan’s agent Jose Irribaren summarised Gaitan’s situation by claiming he will move to United.
‘Everything is possible, there is a deal with Manchester United,’ Irrabaren said.
‘The will of the player is that everything goes well.
‘We are waiting for a response from the vice President, which is why I cannot say much more.’
So as things stand the transfer is set to go through and Louis van Gaal is just waiting on getting the green light from Benfica.
Punters in the Tavern get the impression that van Gaal is looking to get the midfielder on board to help Angel di Maria settle in at the club.
Because, the Dutch coach is under immense pressure from the board and critics to make their record breaking signing become a success at Old Trafford.
