Deal close: Arsenal boss confirms midfielder’s arrival this weekend

ElnenyArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are reacting positively to confirmation that their side is getting their transfer business done early, with confirmation of an imminent arrival.

Metro quotes Arsene Wenger as stating he is hopeful of completing a deal in the next ‘2 or 3 days’, believed to be the capture of FC Basel’s Mohamed Elneny.

Arsenal have been poised to complete a deal since the transfer window opens but there have been problems, which Wenger confirmed in his pre-match press conference this morning.

‘It’s complicated a little bit but we work hard on it. I hope in the next 2-3 days we get to the end of it.’

Elneny could arrive before the midweek clash with injury-plagued Liverpool, providing Arsenal with a boost to their midfield ranks and giving the Gunners a direct replacement for injured star Francis Coquelin.

A defensive-midfielder by trade, Elneny will be the first outfield signing for Arsenal since Gabriel Paulista’s arrival from Villarreal this time last year- and our landlord believes this is a significant deal for Arsenal that will increase their chances of Premier League success.
