Deal close: Atletico to beat Arsenal and Spurs to January addition

KokeFans from across the North London divide have been united in their disappointments this evening in the Transfer Tavern, as reports indicate Atletico Madrid have won the race for a talented January addition.

Talksport, reporting via AS, state Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur will miss out on the services of Serbian starlet Andrija Zivkovic.

Atletico Madrid are said to be in an advanced position to secure the signature of the 19-year-old, having discussed a January transfer with the Serbian during his visit to the Spanish capital.

A star for Serbia’s U20 World Cup success earlier this year, Zivkovic is rated extremely highly and Partizan are looking to cash-in during the upcoming transfer window– as the player’s current deal expires next summer.

The youngest player to feature for Serbia’s national team, Zivkovic is set for a bright future and has been dubbed the ‘Serbian Lionel Messi’ within some footballing circles- which grabbed the attention of our regulars at the bar.

Arsenal and Tottenham fans had hoped to see the teenager shine in North London but the two rivals will share disappointment following the news that Slaven Bilic’s outfit look likely to win the race for his services.

Is Atletico Madrid a good club for young players or would he have a better chance of success in the Premier League? Let us know in the comments below!
