Burnley supporters here at the Football Transfer Tavern have been patiently waiting for more signings to come to the club, and it looks like they might just get their wish.
Anderlecht midfielder Steven Defour has been linked with a move away from his native Belgian all summer, and it would appear that Burnley are leading the chase for the talented midfielder.
According to Sky Sports, Defour had a medical at Burnley earlier today, with a view to completing the deal as soon as possible.
If the deal does go through, Defour will become Burnley’s biggest signing of the window. It would also be an important deal for Dyche, as he has admitted that he has struggled to sign players in what he called an “astounding” transfer market.
Defour has been linked with the likes of Manchester United in recent years and so this move would show just how attractive Burnley are as a prospect for foreign players.
Burnley lost their opening game of the season 1-0 against Swansea, but will feel that they will be able to grow into the season and hopefully beat the drop. The signing of Steven Defour would definitely help that – expect the deal to be confirmed soon.
