The Sheffield Wednesday supporters playing darts have been excited by a report in The Star which claims that they have agreed a fee for the permanent signing of Gary Hooper from Norwich.
The transfer is reported to be worth around £3 million, with the striker signing a permanent deal with the club where he spent the first half of the season on loan.
Hooper returned to Norwich following the expiry of his loan deal on Sunday but is expected to complete a permanent switch to the Owls soon.
The Englishman had netted 6 goals in 13 appearances for the Championship promotion hopefuls in his loan spell this term.
Wednesday have been negotiating with the Canaries for a week regarding the transfer of the 27-year old and finally reached an agreement as the Premier League outfit reduced their asking price.
Norwich initially wanted £3.5million for Hooper, who cost them £5.5 million to bring to Carrow Road from Celtic back in July 2013. With his contract expiring in the summer though, Wednesday refused to exceed the £3 million mark.
Hooper must still agree personal terms with Wednesday, but they are said to be ready to match his current £32,000-a-week wage.
Although Hooper was not a part of Norwich boss Alex Neil’s plans, our landlord believes that Hooper could help Wednesday in their chase for a promotion place.
