Deal close: Chelsea edge closer to agreement with new striker

CalleriChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are praying that the latest reports are true, after hearing that they’re on the cusp of agreeing a deal for a new striker.

Top Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has declared to our punters today that Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal to secure Boca Juniors striker Jonathan Calleri in January.

After helping the Argentine club win their domestic division earlier this month, Calleri is now expected to become the latest South American star to move to Europe; following in the foot-steps of Neymar and potential Blues team-mate Oscar.

Reports claim a £9.8m offer has been made for the 22-year-old striker but he may not set Stamford Bridge alight immediately, with it being stated he could be immediately loaned to another Premier League club.

Stoke City and Inter Milan were reported to also be in the hunt for Calleri earlier this month and because of that the Potters could be the favoured destination for Calleri, should he leave on-loan.

Chelsea fans in the bar are hopeful this deal can be completed swiftly but do not want the player to be loaned out, as they believe the forward would be a vast improvement on their struggling strike-force this season.

Should Chelsea loan Calleri out or would it be a huge mistake? Let us know in the comments below!
