Deal close: Chelsea finalising deal to land international striker

Alexandre PatoChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have started the week in a superb mood, following their 1-0 victory over Arsenal and reports of an imminent signing.

The Daily Mail states Chelsea were finalising a move for Alexandre Pato last night and are set to bring the Brazilian international to Stamford Bridge on-loan, with a view to a permanent transfer at the end of the season.

Chelsea have struggled in front of goal this season with Diego Costa only just starting to hit form, whilst Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao have been unimpressive, and the Blues hope signing Pato from Brazilian side Corinthians will improve their chances of returning to European football next season.

Pato managed 26-goals whilst on-loan at Sao Paulo last season and is ready to test himself in Europe once again, after a spell with AC Milan saw him land the Serie A title in 2011 before he returned to South America three years ago.

Our landlord believes Pato can add a new dimension to Chelsea’s attack and that Guus Hiddink will get the best out of him this season.
