Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for big business this week and they’ve ordered a pint in anticipation to keep their nerves settled, amid reports of a major financial boost.
Brazilian Ramires has featured just once for Chelsea in 2016 and has not started since a defeat to Leicester City in December, the final game of the ill-fated regime of Jose Mourinho.
Ramires had attracted heavy interest, with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain keen on his signature, but neither side could match the staggering £25m offer from the Chinese club, which gives Chelsea £7m profit on the 28-year-old they spent £18m on in 2010.
The sale of the experienced midfielder will bolster Chelsea’s accounts and it may lead to significant incoming deals before the window slams shut next Monday evening.
Our landlord can’t quite believe how Chelsea have managed to get such an audacious figure for Ramires, a belief that’s shared by many supporters.
Chelsea fans, how should your club spend this money? Let us know in the comments below!
