Deal close: Chelsea set to complete £3.5m signing, passes medical

HiddinkChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are crowding around the TV screens this morning as they anticipate an imminent announcement of a major transfer deal for their side.

The Daily Express state that Chelsea are set to sign Matt Miazga from New York Red Bulls in a £3.5m deal, with the 20-year-old passing a medical with the London side last night.

Miazga, who does not need a work permit as he owns a Polish passport, will arrive to bolster the Blues’ back-line and will immediately train with the first-team squad, although it’s unlikely he will make his debut soon.

The young defender will sign a four-year deal at Stamford Bridge and will provide back-up to first-choice duo John Terry and Kurt Zouma, which could be crucial with Gary Cahill stated to be unhappy and seeking an exit.

Our landlord is keen to see Miazga impress in England and hopes he will get his chance with the Blues, not becoming another serial loanee.
