Deal close: Chelsea set to sign highly-coveted South American forward

Pato QPRChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have reacted with mixed emotions to the latest gossip as they sip their pints of bitter this morning, with some lads at the pool table questioning whether this is a good move.

ESPN Brazil state that Chelsea are closing in on a deal to bring former AC Milan forward Alexandre Pato back to European football, snatching the 26-year-old Brazilian from Corinthians.

The experienced forward, once heralded as the next best thing for Le Selecao, has endured a massive decline since his days in Milan but has still attracted a lot of attention this window, with a number of Premier League sides linked with his signature.

Chelsea’s need for striker reinforcements seems to have put them at the top of the queue though, with Diego Costa struggling to replicate his form from his inaugural season in English football, Loic Remy unimpressive and Radamel Falcao injured- not that he’s been in form either.

Our landlord believes Pato is a massive risk and isn’t one Chelsea can afford to take, as they desperately need goals to fire them up the Premier League standings.

Chelsea fans, is this a good deal for your club? Let us know in the comments below!
