Deal close: Crystal Palace to sign striker on four-year deal

Dwight GayleCrystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern have seen a major u-turn occur today as they order a round of drinks to bring in the final stages of Deadline Day, with a deal set to go through.

ESPN state that Dwight Gayle has agreed a new contract with Crystal Palace, which brings an end to transfer speculation concerning the player.

The 25-year-old was heavily linked with both Leicester City and Swansea City this window and at one stage he seemed destined to complete a move. However, a new four-year deal will tie the talented forward with the Eagles until 2020.

With just seven Premier League appearances this term, Gayle has found first-team football difficult to come by and January’s signing of Emmanuel Adebayor hands Gayle further competition for his position.

However, despite the lack of opportunities, Alan Pardew regards the player very highly and wants to secure his long-term future.

Our landlord believes it’s a good deal for Palace and hopes that he will be given more first-team opportunities in the second-half of the season.

Palace fans, are you pleased to see Gayle assured of his future? Let us know in the comments below!
