Deal close: Defender set to snub Man United’s advances

GlikManchester United fans can’t quite believe what their hearing today in the Transfer Tavern, after reports state that a defender will reject their advances in January.

Talksport state that Manchester United target Kamil Glik will snub a Premier League move in January and will instead sign a new deal with Serie A side Torino.

The 28-year-old has impressed over the last 18 months, where United have held longstanding interest in the player, but he does not want to leave Italian football.

That may come as a blow to Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal, who is looking for widespread improvements for his squad to further their quest for the Premier League title this season.

Polish international Glik is now set to extend his deal with the Italian side until 2019, when he will be in the twilight stages of his career, so a move to England seems off the cards in the long-term too.

United fans believe there is better options out there, so aren’t too bothered, but are concerned that they can’t seem to persuade this player to move to Old Trafford.
