Deal close: Everton confirm talks underway for double-deal

Phil JagielkaEverton fans currently playing darts in The Transfer Tavern are discussing reports that a key duo are set to be offered new deals at the club.

The Express is reporting that both Steven Naismith and Kevin Mirallas will be sat down by Roberto Martinez to discuss their futures at the club.

Speculation has intensified over recent weeks about players future at Goodison Park, but Martinez is hopeful that he can keep his whole squad together so they can hopefully achieve a top four finish come May.

Mirallas has been linked with many clubs since the season began due to lack of gamete, but Martinez does not expect anyone to leave the club in January. Speaking about his squad, the Spaniard said:

“It is so important to have a strong squad. Every single player will have an important role. January is not a window we are looking at to bring players in. Sometimes it is a window of opportunity and we will always keep that in mind, but January is about trying to continue that continuity.”

“All the players have to have real clarity on their roles. A player needs to be ready to fight for the position and add to the team. Steven (Naismith) is a very intelligent footballer and it has been a very frustrating period for him. But you could get suspensions and injuries. The competition for places is as strong as it could have been.”

The Everton fans in The Transfer Tavern are delighted with the comments made by Martinez and are hopeful that both Mirallas and Naismith are still with the club beyond the January window.
