Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have gathered around the bar to discuss the latest news, as they await an imminent signing from their club that represents Guus Hiddink’s first venture in the transfer market.
The London Evening Standard states Alexandre Pato flew to London last night to finalise a move to the struggling Premier League champions, with the Brazilian international set to join on a six-month loan deal.
Chelsea have been chasing a new striker throughout the mid-season window and Pato has long been top of their list, though a transfer was delayed due to the fact Corinthians wanted a permanent sale to the tune of £8m.
However, the Blues have successful negotiated a loan deal and will possess an option to purchase Pato outright in the summer, should he impress.
The former AC Milan forward will provide competition to Diego Costa and his arrival is likely to accelerate the exit of Loic Remy from Stamford Bridge, as the Frenchman looks for more regular first-team football opportunities.
Our landlord isn’t convinced that Pato can shine in West London though and has urged Hiddink to continue scouring the market for new additions, stating that major improvements are needed if they are to squeeze into the European spots.
