Deal close: Liverpool set to sign Champions League defender

kloppppp0Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have breathed a sign of relief this cold January afternoon, huddled around the fire as they discuss their vast injury concerns.

CalcioMercato claim those worries may be eased by the imminent signing of Argentine defender Martin Caceres from Juventus.

The Reds struggled to earn a replay against Exeter City on Friday’s FA Cup third-round opener, with a second string side being selected due to the vast injury problem that Jurgen Klopp finds on his hands.

Those issues have not be eased ahead of Wednesday night’s hosting of Arsenal and our Liverpool fans are disappointed to hear this signing will not fix their immediate issues, with Caceres set to sign a pre-contract agreement this month before moving to Anfield on a free transfer in the summer.

Caceres sees his deal with Italian giants Juventus come to a close at the end of the season and Liverpool want to snatch him up this month, with the Argentine free to discuss pre-contractual agreements with sides outside of Italy.

Our landlord and the punters aren’t convinced this is a good deal for Liverpool, believing signings are needed immediately and that there will be better defensive options available in the summer.

Liverpool fans, would this be a good signing? Let us know in the comments below!
