Manchester United fans have seen a quiet window at Old Trafford and they’ve swarmed to the Transfer Tavern in their masses today to complain. However, as they order their pints, they’ve been alerted to some interesting news.
Portuguese outlet O Jogo state that Manchester United are in advanced talks for Benfica starlet Renato Sanches, after submitting a mammoth bid worth £21m.
The 18-year-old is highly-rated as a future superstar and the Red Devils have had their eye on the player throughout the January transfer window.
United met with the Portuguese side last week to negotiate the star’s £60m release clause and it seems the fee required has been reduced, although the staggering figure of £31m is still an audacious amount for such a young player.
Our fans are no stranger to such a sensationally high fee for an unknown player though after they splashed the cash to land Anthony Martial from Monaco last summer.
Meanwhile, our landlord is concerned that United haven’t done the business required to land themselves a spot in the top-four.
United fans, what do you expect from today? Let us know in the comments below!
