Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have moved quickly to grab the best seats at the bar in front of the TV, as they anxiously await confirmation of their first January signing.
23-year-old Egyptian international Elneny has had to wait in Paris whilst work permit issues were cleared, as he doesn’t qualify for an immediate permit under the Football Association’s new regulations, but Arsene Wenger has remained confident the deal will go through.
Now, it appears the waiting is over and Arsenal will sign the player from Swiss outfit FC Basel- sealing their first senior outfield signing since January of last year.
Elneny could be in-line to make his debut against Stoke City on Sunday and the highly-rated African midfielder will provide excellent depth in the squad, easing the concerns due to the absences of Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla.
Our landlord believes this is a significant deal for Arsenal, which could end up deciding where the Premier League title moves to in May.
Arsenal fans, how many more signings do you need after Elneny? Let us know in the comments below!
