Newcastle United fans could soon be jumping for joy here in the Transfer Tavern with another signing on his way to St. James’ Park.
Our landlord is having a browse through The Guardian when he spots a piece by journalist Ed Aarons, who claims that Andros Townsend has been given permission to speak with the Magpies following the two clubs agreeing on a compromised fee for the player.
Townsend will be desperate to prove his worth to England boss Roy Hodgson ahead of the Euro’s this summer and the move north will give him some much needed first-team football.
One Newcastle fan is playing pool with his pals in the Tavern and has been pleased by Steve McClaren’s January spending, although he does concede that had the boss targeted these sort of players at the start of the season, they probably wouldn’t be in such a mess towards the foot of the table.
