The Manchester City fans who were relaxing by the fire after seeing title rivals Arsenal and Leicester both drop points this weekend are now working up a bit of a sweat after reading an article on getreading.co.uk which states that Reading are nearing the signing of midfielder George Evans.
The 21-year old City man spent the majority of the season on loan at Walsall and had only just extended his spell on Tuesday.
During his time at the League 1 outfit, Evans played 16 times and scored 4 goals.
However, City recalled the promising youngster on Saturday and there have been some raised voices by the bar as rumours suggest that his recalling is due to intensifying negotiations regarding a permanent switch to the Madejski Stadium.
Evans, who is capable of playing in both central midfield and central defence, has been a Manchester City player since he was 8 years old and is very popular amongst the club’s supporters.
Should Evans leave the Etihad, he would be subjected to the same fate as other talented youngsters like Marcos Lopes, Karim Rekik and Emyr Huws, who were all recently sold by the club despite their fans’ grievances.
Having made his senior debut earlier this season, replacing midfield counterpart Yaya Toure against Sunderland in the Capital One cup, he became the first ever player in the Blues’ history to have featured for the club in every age bracket from the Under 8s to the first team.
Since joining Walsall on loan in October he has played 16 times, scoring four goals.
