Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling excited after reading reports suggesting that one of their brightest young sparks of the season may be tied down for longer at the club.
The 19-year-old midfielder already earns £10,000 a week but can most likely expect to see that figure doubled as Spurs reward the young prospect for his fantastic start at the Lane.
When Alli signed for Spurs from Milton Keynes Dons last year, he was given a 5 and a half year contract so any new deal would likely last until the summer of 2021.
Tottenham already have a positive reputation for improving the terms of players who are performing well, including new deals that were offered to Real Madrid star, Gareth Bale, on three occasions and Spurs striker, Harry Kane, whose latest agreement has tied him to the club until the summer of 2020.
Since returning from his loan-spell with MK Dons, Alli has became a crucial first-team player in such a short space of time and has managed five goals for Spurs in 25 appearances under Mauricio Pochettino.
Asked about the future of players like Kane and Alli earlier in the season, Pochettino said:
“If you are successful the club gives you what you deserve. This club always pay their players a good salary. It is step by step. We need to stay calm but if you deserve a new contract, the club will give it to you.”
