Drunken Aston Villa fans at the bar might be shedding a few sentimental tears after The Sun reported that West Brom are looking to lure Gabriel Agbonlahor to the Hawthorns.
The 29-year is a lifelong fan of the Midlands club, but has fallen out of favour with new boss Remi Garde.
Agbonlahor is the current club captain having spent his entire professional career at Villa, scoring 73 Premier League goals in ten consecutive season. However, his future at the club has been in jeopardy since Garde admitted that the pair had a ‘disagreement’ following his decision to drop the ex-England striker against Newcastle last month.
Reports last month suggested that Garde would be open to offers for Villa’s all-time top Premier League goalscorer and when asked recently whether the forward would remain at Villa Park beyond January, the Frenchman said:
“Don’t create a situation that doesn’t exist. I am proud no one has come to me and asked to leave in January. Maybe it will happen. If so, this is the time because after the window I will need players totally committed.”
Aston Villa fans, how upset would you be if Agbonlahor did leave for another club this January? Let us know in the comments below!
