The West Ham United fans who are taking part in a pool tournament in The Transfer Tavern are discussing reports linking them with a loan swoop for a Nigerian international striker.
The Telegraph is reporting that the Premier League side are set to sign Emmanuel Emenike on loan to cover the striker crisis the club is currently going through.
The striker spent the first half of the new season on loan at Trabzonspor in Turkey where he managed nine goals in 15 appearances.
West Ham are in need of a new addition at the top of the field after injuries sustained by Andy Carroll Diafara Sakho have left then short of options.
West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan admitted the club were in talks with regards to bringing a striker to the club saying:
“There’s a possibility that a striker will come in on loan, with the option to buy, within the next seven days. He’s an overseas striker.”
“If I told you, you wouldn’t believe it. I can’t tell you which league because then you’ll know exactly who it is. We are signing from a very strange league. But he has played in higher leagues.”
With the club completing the signing of Sam Byram yesterday it is proving to be a successful window for West Ham already.
As for the West Ham fans in The Transfer Tavern they are delighted with the news and hope the player can show the kind of form he had shown during his time in Turkey.
