Manchester City supporters have been in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern in the last few days after seeing their side get back to winning ways in the Premier League courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Watford at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.
Pep Guardiola’s men saw their incredible 18-match winning run in the league come to an end with a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve, although their sensational unbeaten start to the campaign remained intact heading into 2018. And they kicked off the New Year with a comfortable success over Marco Silva’s Watford, with goals from Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero, as well as an own goal from Christian Kabasele, securing the three points for the Citizens, with Andre Gray’s late effort nothing more than a consolation for the Hornets.
Consequently, there have been many thrilled City fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are likely to be intrigued by a recent report from The Daily Mail, which suggests that a decision on whether or not their team will bid for Alexis Sanchez will come in the ‘next few days’.
The 29-year-old’s future at Arsenal has been subject of speculation for a while now given the nature of his contract situation, which will see the attacker a free agent come the end of the season if no extension is agreed.
And with that particular outcome seemingly unlikely, the Gunners may seek to cash in on the Chile star this month, and Manchester City are one side reportedly interested in luring Sanchez to the Etihad Stadium in a bid to bolster their attacking ranks.
And recent reports suggest that a decision on whether to pursue a move for the 29-year-old this month will be made in the coming ‘days’, leaving our resident City fans very much intrigued as to what the outcome might be regarding the Sanchez pursuit.
Landlord’s verdict: Alexis Sanchez almost certainly appears to be on his way out of Arsenal, it’s just a case of whether it happens this month or in the summer.
Manchester City are one side reportedly keen on landing the 29-year-old, yet whether they actually firm up their recent interest with a bid is set to become clearer in the next ‘few days’ as reports suggest that a decision will be made shortly by manager Pep Guardiola and the club’s hierarchy.
Gabriel Jesus’ recent injury may play a part in any decision, as could Sanchez’s supposedly £25 million price-tag, but whether they result in City going in for the 80-goal Gunners ace remains to be seen.
