The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are divided on what their club should do with Mamadou Sakho this summer…
He was always a pretty stellar option for the Reds, proving to be a reliable hand at the back, but off the field incidents at the beginning of the 2016/17 season led to him being frozen out of proceedings at Anfield.
A loan to Crystal Palace followed, and he was very impressive during the spell, leading the Eagles in the Transfer Tavern to believe that the natural conclusion to the saga would be to see Sakho move to Selhurst Park permanently.
However, according to the Evening Standard, that is not the case – with Sakho’s future seemingly uncertain at present. The Evening Standard are reporting that Liverpool are demanding a fee of around £30 million for Palace to sign the defender on a permanent basis – a fee that the club will likely be unable to afford.
The Reds in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that this might mean that Sakho could come back to the club, but they certainly aren’t holding out hope, with Klopp’s relationship with the defender likely needing a massive turnaround for that to be the case.
Still, Sakho’s fine form will likely attract a few suitors this summer, but with Palace seemingly priced out of a deal, the defender’s future is undoubtedly uncertain. Our landlord thinks that this one might drag on for a while yet…
