The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been impressed with the form of Laurent Koscielny this season…
The Frenchman has been a dominant force in the Arsenal back-line, forming an excellent partnership with Shkodran Mustafi this season.
It makes it all the more impressive, then, that Koscielny has done so well whilst suffering from an injury. According to the Evening Standard, Koscielny has recently confirmed that his Achilles will require daily treatment for the rest of his career. He said: “Every morning I have my treatment for my Achilles and I know I need to do this to the end of my career”.
The immediate response of the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern to this was one of concern. Daily treatment would suggest that Koscielny is playing through the pain barrier – leaving many in the pub fearing that his fitness is a ticking time bomb.
However, it appears as though the problem is being managed well – as evidenced by the impressive form that he has displayed for much of the campaign.
Our landlord thinks that the one bonus of Arsenal missing out on Champions League football next season, which is now looking likely, is that Koscielny may be able to play more regularly.
