Defender set to rejoin Chelsea next summer on one condition

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are getting very excited for next season…

This season is going pretty well for Chelsea, with the Blues currently sitting atop the Premier League table – but many of the Chelsea fans in the Tavern can’t help but already think about next season.

The 2016/17 campaign is sure to be a successful one, especially if the Blues win the title, but next season could be even better.

By that point, Antonio Conte will have gotten used to life in England, and had an entire year to bring in a few players and build his squad in his own image – and it would appear as though the first of those new recruits is already in the making.

Whilst not technically a new recruit, Chelsea loanee Andreas Christensen is yet to really feature for the Blues – having spent the last 2 seasons on loan – but now, it looks like he will return over the summer, as confirmed by his father.

Speaking to Danish publication BT, Christensen’s father has revealed that:”As it is right now, he’s back at Chelsea again this summer.”

He continued: “Chelsea would like Andreas back, and they have wanted to for [a long time]”.

Any long-term Chelsea return rests on the condition that he plays regular football, though, with Christensen’s father also¬†revealing: “He will not return to Chelsea and sit on the bench…If Chelsea buy ten central defenders, it may well be that we need to do something else”.

The news is certainly positive for the Chelsea fans in the Tavern, many of whom have touted Christensen has one of Europe’s most impressive young defenders.

Take a look at what he can do below…

With Antonio Conte recently confirming that he won’t be signing any more central defenders, our landlord thinks that Christensen’s route back to the Chelsea first team is assured.
