Liverpool could keep one of their defenders on the sidelines for another month as they appear to be in no rush to get him back in the first-team.
The Croatia international is yet to appear for the Anfield outfit this season after he complained about a stomach injury that he appeared to aggravate during the World Cup.
The 29-year-old is already thought to have started light training and is believed to be returning to full training later this month, however, Jurgen Klopp’s side are determined to give him as long as possible before rushing him back into action.
Liverpool have a tough schedule coming up following the latest international break, with their clash against Tottenham Hotspur being the first game of seven in the space of 23 days.
Lovren’s latest setback will surely come as a blow to Klopp and Liverpool, although they will be right to make sure he is completely ready to come back into the team at 100%.
However, should he sit out for another month, he could miss a double clash with Chelsea, a match against Manchester City and Champions League fixtures with Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli.
Joe Gomez has filled in remarkable during his absence, however, following his performances for Croatia as they reached the World Cup final, Lovern could be a huge miss for the Premier League title challengers.
