Dembele is the past and Tottenham should seriously consider swoop on £22.5m-rated lynchpin

Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern will be pleased with the latest news coming from Real Madrid as the European champions have reportedly dropped their interest in Mauricio Pochettino.

Despite penning a new five-year deal with the Lilywhites, Madrid were reportedly keen on Pochettino replacing Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu. Now though, Los Blancos are believed to have dropped their interest in the former Espanyol boss in order to pursue other targets. Our punters are over the moon that the Argentine will be staying.

Pochettino can now turn his attention to the transfer market and strengthen his squad to challenge with Manchester City for the title. If Mousa Dembele decides to leave the club, replacing him will be a priority – the Belgian has been a mainstay in the Tottenham midfield in recent years.

An ideal replacement is Amiens midfielder – Tanguy Ndombele. The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Lyon and has emerged as one of the top prospects in France. His performances has seen his market value increase to £22.5m according to Transfermarkt. The Frenchman has all the attributes to the be the perfect box-to-box midfield.

Ndombele has an excellent range of passing and is extremely similar to Dembele. He uses his body well to keep the ball, averaging 2.5 successful dribbles per game according to WhoScored. A completely unique player, he could prove to be Tottenham’s best signings in years.
