HITC is reporting that Derby County manager Paul Clement will not be looking to sell striker Chris Martin when the transfer window opens in January.
Martin, who has scored seven goals in 11 appearances so far for the Championship, was yesterday linked with a move to Sunderland in January.
Clement has been quick to dampen that speculation by confirming that he would not swap the striker for anyone. Speaking to the club’s official website ahead of Derby County’s trip to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship tonight, Clement said:
“We have an excellent striker in Chris Martin who is in fantastic form; he’s scoring goals and playing well too – I wouldn’t swap him for anyone. We have been scoring more goals as a team lately which is just what we want and Chris has led the line very well.”
The news that Clement is not looking to sell Martin has gone down well with the Derby fans in The Transfer Tavern who are excited that Martin will remain at the club until at least the summer.
