The Manchester City fans were in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern last night after they watched their side storm to a 3-0 victory in the final of the Carabao Cup at Wembley.
Pep Guardiola won his first trophy as manager of The Citizens yesterday afternoon as his side comfortably saw off the challenge of a meek Arsenal side at the home of English football. Sergio Aguero got City off to a perfect start after just 18 minutes as he latched onto the end of a long ball from Claudio Bravo and exquisitely lofted the ball over a helpless David Ospina.
From that moment forward the game belonged to Man City, and the result never looked in doubt. City later doubled their advantage courtesy of captain fantastic Vincent Kompany who instinctively turned home a driven cross from Ilkay Gundogan just 13 minutes into the second-half, before David Silva put the result beyond Arsenal’s reach 7 minutes later to wrap up the scoring.
However, Arsene Wenger stated in his post-match interview that Kompany’s crucial second goal should have been disallowed for offside, but the City fans on Twitter were a long way from agreeing with the long-serving Frenchman.
In the aftermath of proceedings, Wenger stated that City’s second goal was ‘100% offside’ due to the position of Leroy Sane who was stood slightly behind Arsenal’s defensive line.
Wenger: “I thought we were unlucky. The second goal – I just watched it again – it was 100 per cent offside.”

Although Sane was technically stood in an offside position, the German international did nothing to interfere with play or obstruct the vision of Ospina, so the reaction of the City fans who have slated Wenger for his comments is rather understandable considering the circumstances.
Here’s what the supporters on Twitter have had to say about Wenger in response to his post-match comments…
