Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have spent the week gearing up for Thursday’s huge Manchester derby but their preparations have been disrupted by some disappointing news.
The Red Devils lost both Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to long-term injuries during the course of their Europa League quarter-final victory over Anderlecht last week, and it seems the latter’s time at Old Trafford will end as a result.
The Daily Mirror states Zlatan Ibrahimovic is facing a spell of between nine months and a year on the sidelines, which rules-out the possibility of him featuring for the Red Devils again, handing United a huge blow.
Now 35, Ibrahimovic’s time at the top of football is set to reach a disappointing finale but the Swedish striker will not bring an end to his career, as he’s eyeing a move to the MLS to join new franchise Los Angeles FC for the season’s start in March.
Our landlord believes that Ibrahimovic may struggle to excel in his return stateside, as he feels the injury could be the end of the veteran striker’s career altogether.
Should Ibrahimovic hang up his boots due to this injury? Let us know in the comments below!
