Disappointing striker set for Liverpool this summer

Mario BalotelliLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been handed a piece of news that may not sit well with their meals on curry night this evening, as a disappointing figure is set for an Anfield return.

CalcioMercato state that AC Milan will not exercise an option to secure Mario Balotelli on a permanent deal this summer, with the Italian forward unimpressive on his loan spell at the San Siro.

The controversial forward arrived at Anfield in 2014 for a fee of £16m but failed to provide any evidence of his best form, which led to former boss Brendan Rodgers shipping him out on-loan to his former side the following summer.

With just two goals in nine games for Milan this season, none of which have come from open play, even a cut-price of €7-8m for the 26-year-old Italian international is deemed too high a figure for the Serie A giants.

Whether Balotelli will be handed a second chance at Liverpool under new boss Jurgen Klopp remains to be seen but our landlord believes this could be the beginning of the end for a talented player who never quite fulfilled his potential.

Liverpool fans, does Balotelli deserve a second chance? Let us know in the comments below!
