Disappointing: The 1 Arsenal transfer flop that should be sold this summer

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to see some big changes this summer. Arsene Wenger is set to depart, and after another poor year in the English top flight, it seems likely that a few players will follow him out of the door as well.

A handful of Arsenal players have failed to perform this season, and it’s fair to say that Wenger’s transfer business over the last few years hasn’t quite gone to plan.

Whilst a few big names have come in, there have been a fair few mises at the Emirates as of late, and former Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka is arguably up there with the worst of them.

Arsenal had a major problem in the midfield prior to his arrival, but unfortunately, that problem has remained through to today.

He hasn’t had the desired impact over the last two years or so, with the Swiss midfielder unable to translate his form from Germany to the Premier League.

Known as much for his bad disciplinary record as he is for what he can do on the pitch, Xhaka has a lot of work to do to have any chance of turning his time in England.

Undoubtedly, Arsenal have a big decision to make on his future. With no sign of improvement, Xhaka clearly isn’ the player they need to dominate the midfield for years to come. Fortunately, he’s rated at £31.5 million by Transfer Markt, and so the Gunners should still be able to get a decent return were they to decide to sell him.

Given how highly he was rated before his move, the Gunners clearly had very lofty expectations for him. However, he’s failed to deliver on most fronts, and the only reason why he has retained such a prominent role is down to a lack of other options. He wouldn’t get into any of the other top Premier League team’s midfield, and so Arsenal should consider bringing in a new face.
