Man Utd haven’t got it wrong on the transfer front all that often in the past, but Jose Mourinho will be wanting to take his team to the next level this summer.
It’s fair to say that whilst most recent transfers have gone down very well indeed, naturally, a disappointment occasionally slips through the cracks.
Arguably, the biggest disappointment from the last few years has been Luke Shaw.
Signed from Southampton with very high expectations, the young Englishman was expected to become Man Utd’s long-standing left-back.
However, unfortunately, it just hasn’t happened for him. A cruel run of injuries, mixed with a lack of faith shown by Jose Mourinho, has brought his career to a grinding halt, and so perhaps the best course of action will be for him to leave the club this summer.
After all, at 22-years-old, he’s still young enough to really make a name for himself in the English top flight, and if he can become even half as good as we all expected him to be, he’d still be a fantastic option for any number of top European sides.
For Man Utd, a sale makes sense given his lack of action. Another year of sitting on the sidelines is only going to make his value go down, and so if Mourinho doesn’t plan on using him, perhaps it’s time to cash-in.
Shaw, though arguably through little fault of his own, has certainly been a flop at Man Utd, and the Red Devils need to seriously think about cashing in.
