The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern were hoping for a more dominant season this year, but unfortunately, Mauricio Pochettino’s men have taken a bit of a step backwards.
They haven’t been able to challenge for the Premier League title this term, and that will undoubtedly come as a blow for the Spurs brass.
This summer, then, it’s clear that a bit of a rebuild is needed to turn Pochettino’s team around.
For that to happen, though, they need to clear out a bit of deadweight in the Tottenham locker room, and one player that certainly should be facing the exit door this summer is Fernando Llorente.
The former Swansea hitman was expected to come in and rival Harry Kane for a starting berth in North London, but unfortunately for him, that just hasn’t happened.
The Spaniard has failed to adjust to life at a top Premier League club, and in the absence of Harry Kane, he has rarely done anything right for Tottenham.
Clearly, then, if he’s not up to the calibre that Spurs fans have come to expect, they need to sell him. There are dozens of other top forwards plying their trade in Europe, many of whom would be able to give Harry Kane a serious run for his money.
Tottenham need to have a decent range of forwards to cope with the ever-expanding range of games that they are required to play each and every season. Llorente, clearly, doesn’t have the ability to handle that role, and so Tottenham must replace the Spanish flop and bring in someone that does.
