‘Do the honourable thing’ – Everton fans react emphatically to recent Koeman tweet

Everton supporters were left drowning their sorrows in the Transfer Tavern once again on Thursday after seeing the Toffees lose 2-1 at home to Lyon in the Europa League, a result which leaves them close to a European exit.

Ronald Koeman’s men went into their clash with the French giants at Goodison Park having picked up just one point from their opening two group stage games, and fell behind early on when Mason Holgate clumsily fouled Marcal in the penalty area, allowing Nabil Fekir to convert the resulting spot-kick. And although the hosts did equalise through Ashley Williams in the second half, they were to be denied a point when Bertrand Traore cleverly beat Jordan Pickford at his near post with 15 minutes of the game remaining.

And defeat, their sixth of the campaign in all competitions and first at Goodison Park, seriously increases the pressure on under-fire manager Koeman, who now faces an enormous clash against Arsenal on Sunday in a bid to try and end their poor run of form, and indeed win over several of our resident Evertonians, many of whom are unconvinced by the Dutchman.

And the former Southampton boss took to Twitter in the aftermath of yesterday’s game, with his attentions very much on Sunday’s clash against the Gunners.

The Toffees are 16th in the Premier League table and have won just two of their opening eight league matches, but could well be in the bottom three by the time they kick off against Arsene Wenger’s side this weekend.

And many Everton supporters have since responded emphatically to Koeman’s tweet, with several calling for the Dutchman’s sacking…
