Having hit the ground running on their Premier League debut with a surprising 4-0 victory over Wigan, Blackpool will head to the Emirates this weekend feeling they have nothing to lose as they take on title challengers Arsenal.
After beginning their season with a somewhat disappointing 1-1 draw away to league rivals Liverpool, manager Arsene Wenger will be looking to pick up his first win of the season in front of an expectant North London crowd.
It remains to be seen if Cesc Fabragas and Robin Van Persie will feature against Blackpool after they were not fit enough to make the starting XI at Anfield on Sunday, but one player who is definitely out is Samir Nasri. The French international faces a number of months on the side lines after having an operation on his knee earlier this week.
Defender Laurent Koscielny is suspended after picking up a red card on his league debut last week, although Denilson and Alex Song could return to selection after recovering from injuries.
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway is likely to stick with the same starting line up that performed so spectacularly at the DW stadium last weekend, with goalkeeper Paul Rachubka and striker Jason Euell both sidelined.
Despite last week’s heroics, this week will most definitely not see a repeat performance that shocked the Premier League, as Blackpool will receive a harsh reality check at the hands of Arsenal, showing the Seasiders that they must get ready for a real fight for Premier League survival this season.
