Do You Know The Score? Bolton vs Fulham

With John Johnston

Bolton v Fulham – 15:00

Owen Coyle will be looking to build on his first season at Bolton when his side play host to Fulham at the Reebok Stadium this Saturday. Robbie Blake and Martin Petrov arrive at the Lancashire club on free transfers to add much needed skill and experience in the middle of the park.

The clubs stand out striker last season, Ivan Klasnic has made his loan move from Nantes permanent, as many Wanderers fans will be hoping the Croatian striker can reignite his partnership with Kevin Davies and keep the club well clear of the drop zone this time out.

It remains to be seen how Fulham will cope this season after reaching last years Europa League final and losing experienced manager Roy Hodgson to Liverpool in the summer. With Mark Hughes now in charge at Craven Cottage, the former Manchester City and Wales boss will have to make sure his team get used to his style of management early if they are to ensure another strong performance this time out.

Jonathan Greening has made his loan move from West Brom permanent, while speculation remains around keeper Mark Schwarzer. With strong rumours of the Australian goalkeeper handing in a transfer request after interest from Arsenal, manager Hughes will be hoping he can keep the experienced shot stopper to boost a defensive line which has already lost new signing Philippe Senderos for 6 months after the Swiss international ruptured his achilles tendon.

With Fulham’s defensive row facing such difficulties at the moment, I think Bolton may have enough attacking prowess to pick up their first 3 points of the season.

Prediction: 2-1
