Kenwyne Jones should start after being substituted 14 minutes into his debut against Wolves last week with a suspected broken ankle. Tony Pulis’ team got off to a disappointing start at the Molineux and it’s a huge ask for his side to get their first win of the season against Tottenham.
Stoke will look to staunch out for the draw, anything else will be a bonus. However, The Potters can never be written off given their impressive home record over the last two seasons.
Tottenham’s side could be without their main source of attacking imagination in Luka Modric who looks doubtful with a groin injury. Attacking options are further dented as Jermaine Defoe will miss out with the same injury. Spurs will demonstrate squad depth and even though it will prove a tough game at the Britannia stadium, the quality of Tottenham’s team will prove to much for the strength of Stoke. It will be interesting to see if any players are rested ahead of the Champions League qualifier with Young Boys in the midweek.
My Prediction: Stoke City 1 – 2 Tottenham Hotspur
