‘Doesn’t help himself’ – West Ham fans on Twitter are slating Sadiq Khan

West Ham fans have been slating the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, after comments he made about the safety of The London Stadium in an exclusive interview with TalkSPORT. The London Mayor’s comments have come in for criticism as the West Ham fans have been slating Khan for focusing too much on the affairs at the Stratford club as opposed to other issues in the city. 

The West Ham fans propping our bar up have been struggling at the moment, the side currently sit just two points and one place above the relegation zone and go into the international break off of the back of three consecutive defeats by a three-goal margin. In the club’s last league game against Burnley at the London Stadium, the tension in the stadium reached boiling point as a number of pitch invasions in the second half marred the day and left a sour taste in the mouths of both West Ham and Burnley fans.

Despite the issues at the stadium, the West Ham fans believe that having Sadiq Khan get involved is an unnecessary step for the club. The fans only issue is with their club’s owners. David Gold, David Sullivan and Karren Brady have all come in for criticism over the way the club is being run, leading to a number of fan protests over the last few years. Whilst the priority for the fans and the players is the football, safety measure at the club need to be improved if they’re to create a safe atmosphere for both home and away fans in future matches.
