Manchester United will surely be delighted with the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he’s completely transformed things since taking over from Jose Mourinho.
The Red Devils will now turn their attention towards securing an all-important top four spot with Champions League football being a must next season. Indeed, it’s unlikely that the Manchester club will go all the way in this year’s competition, so breaking into the top four in the Premier League could prove crucial.
United’s rise under Solskjaer can be put down to a number of players on the field, with one of them being Jesse Lingard. And, it appears as if Daily Mail journalist Dominic King has realised just how special the Englishman has been this season, as he gushed over the attacker’s ability and performances.
‘I’m not sure underrated is the right word but I like Lingard every time I see him play. I’m not saying he should be flagged up for honours or anything like that, I’m simply pointing out that he is an excellent player, with a good attitude and terrific ability. He doesn’t always get headlines but, more often than not, always has an impact.’
Indeed, Lingard’s lack of headlines this season can be put down to him spending most of his time in Paul Pogba’s shadow. The Frenchman is the kind of player who makes headlines no matter how he’s performing on the field, but one thing that has helped his cause is his sensational performances on the field.
Lingard has done well to produce five goals and four assists but that’s nothing compared to Pogba’s 14 goals and 11 assists in all competitions. The attacking midfielder is often involved more in the build-up to goals and quite often starts attacks, but sadly for Lingard the goalscorer and provider grab most of the headlines.
The only time Lingard really makes headlines is with his dance celebrations on the field.
