The Bournemouth fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are dancing on the tables after hearing this piece of breaking news…
It has definitely been one of the strangest sagas of Transfer Deadline Day, one that didn’t feature in any of the Premier League odds, but after a day of speculation – the deal has finally been made concrete.
It was expected throughout the afternoon, but Arsenal have tonight confirmed that Jack Wilshere will spend the rest of the 2016/17 season on loan at Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth.
The English midfielder has struggled to force his way into the Arsenal first team so far this season, limited to a couple of substitute appearances after falling out of favour under Arsene Wenger.
Our landlord thinks that this is due, in large part, to his absence from the first team throughout the entirety of last season. Wilshere has dealt with a number of long-term injury lay-offs over the last year, and he subsequently made just 3 league appearances throughout the 2015-16 campaign.
The inconsistency of his availability has caused much frustration amongst the Arsenal faithful here in the Football Transfer Tavern, with a number of them feeling that Arsene Wenger had little choice but to send the talented youngster out on loan this season.
The signing of Granit Xhaka will no doubt have eased some of Wenger’s fears about the deal, with many of the Gunners here in the Tavern confident that he will be able to provide cover this season in the absence of Wilshere.
Whilst much of the talk regarding the deal has been about how the move will benefit Arsenal and Wilshere himself; many people are forgetting how much of an impact it could have on lowly Bournemouth.
Just 18 months ago the club’s stadium wasn’t even big enough to host Premier League games; now they are signing one of the most sought after players in the Premier League.
It has been quite the meteoric rise from Eddie Howe’s men; and if Jack Wilshere can remain fit this season he could become a real difference maker for the Cherries.
Many of the Bournemouth fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have been questioning what exactly they will be getting out of Wilshere this season – but this short compilation video should provide them with everything they need to know…
When he’s fit – there are few players better than Jack Wilshere. What a coup.
Our landlord reckons that if Eddie Howe can get Jack Wilshere playing well whilst also maintaining his fitness – he could become an absolutely vital cog in the Cherries push for a top-half finish this season.
Arsenal fans – we want to hear from you! Will this move be good for Jack? Bournemouth fans – are you excited about what he could bring from the side this season?
