Champions League winning manager Roberto Di Matteo has been officially unveiled as the new boss of recently relegated Aston Villa, the club has confirmed via their official website this morning.
Di Matteo has completed the formalities on his contract with the Sky Bet Championship club and makes a surprising return to English football.
The former Italy international has been tasked with reviving the fortunes of the flailing West Midlands-based club and boasts second tier experience having taken West Bromwich Albion to promotion in 2010.
His defining moment as a manager came when he was the manager of Chelsea, guiding them to their first Champions League trophy ever in 2012, to etch his name into Stamford Bridge folklore.
One Aston Villa fan is sat waiting to be served by the landlord here in the Transfer Tavern and he thinks that Di Matteo is a superb appointment by the club, stating that he has all the credentials to take the Villains back into the top flight.
Aston Villa fans, are you happy with this appointment? Did you want someone else to come in as manager?
