The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been fearing this day for a while…
When Nathan Ake was recalled from his loan at Bournemouth, the news was met with a unanimous cheer in the Transfer Tavern. Undoubtedly one of the Blues’ best young players, Ake had really impressed for the Cherries – leaving many in the pub thinking that he would become a star for club and country.
However, what followed was disappointing. He was rarely utilised by Antonio Conte last season, and with the expectation in the Transfer Tavern that the Chelsea boss will look to bring in a few new players this summer – the Dutchman has unfortunately been sacrificed.
As confirmed on Chelsea’s official website, Ake has returned to Bournemouth – this time on a permanent deal – with the Blues clearly not feeling that he is good enough for a starting role.
In truth, it is strange turn of events that the Dutchman has taken over the last year. He looked good for Bournemouth, and impressed when given a chance at Stamford Bridge. However, clearly Conte feels as though there is no room for him, and one would expect that the funds generated from his sale will be invested elsewhere.
Whatever way you spin it, the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are not feeling very happy this morning.
