Done Deal: Everton confirm departure of 30-year-old

The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased to see that Cenk Tosun has joined their club. They needed a new striker after Romelu Lukaku departed the club in the summer and an adequate replacement was not brought in. There is real hope that Tosun will prove to be a success.

But Tosun’s arrival could lead to departures in the attacking departments. Oumar Niasse and Sandro Ramirez could well be shipped off this month. And one player has already gone.

Everton have confirmed on the club’s official website that¬†Kevin Mirallas has joined Olympiakos on a half season loan deal which will see him remain with the Greek giants until the end of this campaign. The 30-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Everton and Sam Allardyce clearly does not favour him.

He has rejoined Olympiakos five and a half years after signing for Everton from the Greek side in the summer of 2012. The Belgium international has since made 186 appearances for the Merseyside outfit, scoring 38 goals in that time.

But having been omitted from the Everton side since a Europa League tie in early December, Mirallas is now ready to leave Goodison Park – albeit temporarily.

Landlord’s verdict

Everton do not seem to need Mirallas any more and they have today been linked with other forwards. This could mean more exits up front. But Mirallas needed to get away to give himself a chance of making the Belgian World Cup squad.
