The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are rather enjoying their summer so far…
Despite a pretty poor 2016/17 campaign, with the Citizens failing to mount much of a title challenge, next season is already beginning to look a lot brighter.
The Sky Blues have already captured the signing of Bernardo Silva, who has arguably been one of Monaco’s most important players over the last year, and now they have made another major move in the market.
As confirmed by Man City on their official website, Portuguese shot-stopper Ederson has agreed to join the club this summer, with the deal set to go through upon the opening of the summer transfer window on July 1st. He has signed a six-year deal with the club.
One of Portugal’s most impressive young talents, Ederson was key for Benfica last season, impressing between the sticks for the Portuguese outfit. Very comfortable with the ball at his feet, it is no real surprise that Pep Guardiola is a fan of the goalkeeper, with strong passing an essential trait for a shot-stopper under the Spaniard.
At just 23-years-old, Ederson is clearly a talent for the future, but that is not to say that he can’t come in and do a job. On the contrary, our landlord is expecting him to come in and take over from Claudio Bravo next season, with the former Barcelona man struggling to adapt to the Premier League.
