Done deal: Man United agree deal for World Cup winner

ValdesManchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have assembled with a heavy heart today, after another home defeat yesterday in the hands of Southampton saw pressure upon Louis Van Gaal rise significantly.

Whilst our punters hope for big news coming this week, the first piece of significant business from the club has been agreed after Manchester United confirmed that Victor Valdes has left to join Standard Liege on-loan.

After arriving in January 2015, Valdes made just two senior appearances for United and has been ousted from the first-team set-up this season following a major fall-out with Van Gaal over the summer, which led to the former Barcelona stopper being excluded from the pre-season trip to America.

An exit for Valdes has been highly likely ever since and he finally got his move this month, which sees him move to Belgium until the end of the season. The Spanish World Cup winner’s contract with United is up in the summer, which means fans have seen the last of him at Old Trafford.

Our fans are frustrated by the latest news, not because they disagree with the decision, but because there’s still no movement on high-profile transfers that the punters believe Manchester United desperately need if they are to land a Champions League spot.

United fans, will it be a busy week ahead for you? Let us know in the comments below!
