The Landlord of the Transfer Tavern was just clearing up for the night when news emerged of Norwich City reportedly signing a highly-rated youngster in the final moments of the transfer deadline.
Reports from Coventry City’s official site have revealed that youngster, James Maddison, has made a move to English top-flight outfit Norwich City for an undisclosed fee.
It has been agreed that the Sky Blues midfielder will stay with the club for the remainder of the season but the 19-year-old is officially a Norwich City player.
The Coventry-born playmaker made his first professional appearance in August 2014 and, despite a three-month absence through injury, he has already made 12 appearances for Coventry this season and has scored two goals.
Due to his form, executive Vice Chairman Chris Anderson admits the club were reluctant for Maddison to leave.
“We’re sad to see James leave the club but wish him all the best for the future. It was with great reluctance that we accepted Norwich’s offer but the deal provides a level of revenue which will help the club grow in the future to build a successful squad beyond the rest of this season.”
Our landlord believes Maddison will be good for Norwich but he just wishes this deal was confirmed before he started packing up for the night.
