Our Chinese exchange students here in the Transfer Tavern have been busy of late, informing the Premier League followers that the Chinese football scene is really set to boom over the next couple of years.
Whether they are right or wrong remains to be seen but our landlord has spotted news on BBC Sport that confirms the latest Premier League player to move to the Far East.
West Ham United striker Nikica Jelavic has swapped the Hammers for a move to Beijing Renhe in the Chinese Second Division in a deal worth £4 million.
The ex-Hull City striker has struggled to break into the West Ham team and has opted to make the move now rather than wait until the end of the season.
One West Ham fan is playing darts here in the Tavern and holds nothing against the Croatian striker, and feels he has done the right thing by moving now rather than wasting six months of his career.
West Ham fans… What do you make to Jelavic’s choice to go to China? Fair enough? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
